Why Don't We Think Ahead?

While I started this company with the idea of focusing on firearms sales, since 2014 I've slowly moved into a more complete offering.  Like a slap in the face, defending yourself & family encompassed more than picking the right firearm(s).

Berkey Water Filters on Display
A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the Yuma Gun Show.  It was the first show that I had the majority of the Berkey filter line, as well as the Sun Oven on display.

After setup I couldn't help but pat myself on the back.  Finally, I had all three - MUST HAVES - sitting side by side for the World to see.

My approach to survival in difficult circumstances is to focus on water, food and defense.  If you can't cover all three, your chances of survival are very slim.

So why don't more of us feel motivated to prepare?

I honestly think many of us simply live in denial.  Most walk scenarios through their head, and come to the conclusion that nothing bad is going to happen.  Or, if something bad does happen, someone will bail them out.  Magically, fresh water will continue to flow from our faucets.  Grocery store shelves will have plenty of the basics.  Our neighbors would NEVER steal from us, or cause us harm.

Only after we experience a horrible event do we see a need.

Hurricanes hit New Orleans, New York, Miami.  Floods swamp Texas.  Riots engulf Baltimore, Cleveland.  Drought in California and Arizona.  The economy disappears.  Terrorists strike, anywhere...

Let me straighten a few things out.  If you DON'T have the basics covered (water, food, defense), don't expect anyone to give a crap about you (and your family).  Those that have prepared are thinking about ONE THING, their own needs.

By the way, handouts will dry up fast.  Once they do, you'll be nothing more than a threat to your prepared neighbors.  Someone trying to take what they have, nothing more.

Now for the basics-

It's easy to understand a Berkey filters purpose.  Undrinkable water goes in, safe drinking water comes out.  Water can have oil floating on the surface, or be loaded with pesticides from the farm next door, you'll still have safe drinking water.

However, when I ask my customers what filters they have at home, the answer is typically, "Nothing."

Now there are a few that have reverse osmosis systems (RO), Brita pitchers (they don't use), or some other system they assume will do the job.  Simply, they won't.

By the way, buying bottled water doesn't count, since it's not a reliable water source.  Think empty grocery store shelves.  In a time of shortage, everyone will be thirsty.

With this being said, how many buy a Berkey?  About 5%.  How many have a pool in their backyards?  Easily over 50%.  An abundant water source, which they have no way of drinking in an emergency.  Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...

Food, while important, isn't something we'll die without short term.  After three weeks, we  REALLY start to suffer.  But why?  Why put yourself, and most importantly, your family through a hunger crisis when you have options?  Buy some long term storage food, toss it in a closet, and forget you have it until you need it.

Defense goes without saying.  I tell every client, 90% of those around you will be both thirsty and hungry in a crisis.  It won't be long before they want, what you have.

So what is the EASY solution?

First, BUY A BERKEY..!  Why am I so adamant about Berkey?  Simple, it filters out the MOST harmful stuff.  Important when you're not in a position to be picky.  A Berkey filter allows you to use ANY water source you find, and make it drinkable.  No other filter is as effective.  Plus, it's gravity fed, so if the power goes out, you're still producing fresh drinking water.  Public water can stop flowing, or can become contaminated.  A Berkey filter on your counter equals survival.

Second, buy some long term food supply.  It doesn't need to be a full year.  Start with a few weeks, and slowly build.

Protect the first two.

If we could look into a crystal ball it would be easy.  FIND the money, buy the basics, and put many of your fears aside.  It's the best money you'll ever spend.
